The Magees, Laura and I went to Liberia to pick my brother up on Monday. It was hot as usual and the bus ride home was long and crowded, but it was still a very exciting day.
Orchid vines on the way to Buena Vista. They wrap around trees and hang down over the road.
Toucans in Mike and Lura's papaya tree.
Way more entertaining than watching TV.
At the airport, Lauren and Laura with our handmade sign. Before he arrived, the Magees would jokingly refer to Judah as "Rachel's handsome brother", thus we decided to give him a memorable welcome.
Lauren had commented that Thomas and I almost look like we could be related, so after Judah arrived we took a family portrait.
The whole fam!
On the bus from Liberia to Nicoya, after we were a couple stops away and everyone else had gotten off the bus.
The Ohios.
Judah had already had a very long day.
Walking to the Magees' house from the bus stop... Judah loves Costa Rica already. Also, note all the dust in the air.
These guys were super awesomely helpful the whole day.
Tom channeling his inner Atlas.
Wednesday, Judah's first day in service. We ended up with Bill and Jesse.
"This is gonna take some getting used to...."
Pretty palm tree sap.
Next day in Guiones, Keysha asking the local children if any of their neighbors speak English. The little boy told her "No, nobody here... but if you go to Pelada (neighboring town) there are a lot of people there that speak English."
A lady on this street spoke English, but she was already studying in Spanish.

Hooray for judah!! I'm glad he got there safe :)
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm sooo happy!
DeleteI am glad that Judah got there OK
ReplyDeleteThat bus looks really nice. When you told us about on Skype the other day, I had imagined an old third-world rust bucket like in "Romancing the Stone."
ReplyDeleteLove the flora and fauna too. Do the toucans leave papayas for human consumption?
